Pixel Artworks Launches Chromatic States at Outernet London

Today, a free immersive experience launches at Outernet London in Tottenham Court Road, offering families, office-goers, and visitors a moment of escapism in the heart of the city.
Chromatic States uses colour, space, sound and shapes to explore how colour is more than what we see, it is something we feel. Created by global experience studio Pixel Artworks, who work on London's New Year’s Eve spectacle, the experience will be open every day during lunchtimes (12-1pm) throughout the summer holidays and welcomes all ages. Visitors can drop in for free, with no need to book.
Set across Outernet’s Now Trending and Arcade spaces, Chromatic States surrounds audiences with visuals, motion and an evolving soundscape to guide people through three distinct emotional states: Tension, Float and Wonder.

Behavioural Scientist and Author, Patrick Fagan, commented on the immersive experience:
The senses have a profound effect on our emotional state - to the point that they are almost one and the same. Psychological research has proven this for decades - whether it's lavender scents making people calmer in dentist's waiting rooms or a domineering red sports kit, making teams more likely to be successful. Colour and sound affect our physiological state, prime certain thoughts and memories, and tap into our deep shared subconscious. This is what makes Chromatic States so powerful: it allows people to step right inside an emotion.
The experience is intended as a short, free escape from the rush of central London, giving visitors the chance to step inside a world of colour during their lunch break or summer day out.
The experience was inspired by artists such as James Turrell, who is considered the ‘master of light’. His work explores light as both a physical and emotional medium, as Chromatic States does.

Colour has the ability to change how we feel without us even noticing. With Chromatic States, we wanted to create an experience where light, colour, sound and movement work together to guide people through different emotional states. Rather than telling a story, it invites every visitor to feel their own.
